When we started our teaching career, the only thing in our mind was to get experience. The journey towards experience was very rough one. Each of us had different experiences. Bad experience were our greatest teachers and good experience were great motivating factors. It was destiny that we met at an institution. In spite of our different backgrounds, interest, experience, knowledge level, we felt that the way we were teaching physics, or teaching as a whole; was not up to the mark. We were simply continuing what our teachers taught us. In addition, the old syllabus and its requirements also limited us. Now that the new syllabus 2076 was being introduced, with its new set of requirements; we sat together one fortunate day and decided that we are not continuing what we have been doing. We will embark on something new – the first step being bringing out a framework or a guideline, which obviously is a text book of our own, and here it is.
The book follows the most recent researches in educational pedagogy to present a fine journey in each chapter – starting from the simplest and ending at the complicated, as every syllabus has. We have made subtle but stark modifications in how the text is presented. The most significant being explanation of the basics – one such example being why is there increase in capacitance in parallel arrangement?? Because the effective area of the capacitors increases. While in most texts, they would refer to the formulae only, we went to the roots!!
In addition, the language has been like personal communication, not like an expert bragging about his erudition, something like we are talking to our students in class itself. Each chapter starts with a picturesque context, which has its explanation in the chapter. And ends with another context which brings upon the use of knowledge of the chapter in real life. Each has a smooth buildup to the theory and follow up of the lessons learnt. The problems and cases have been designed and selected in such a way that they reflect practical use; something that happens in daily
life of a common man. As the main weakness in our instruction system goes – delivery of knowledge but lack of proper follow up. This book exactly targets that deficiency. There are homework packets after every major topic, each packet consisting of very short conceptual and numerical questions, wherever applicable, following worked out samples. These are in addition to all the types of questions
as required by the official syllabus at the end of the chapter. We’ve made sure that that the book will be an asset to your collection not only during your days in
Class XI and XII but throughout whole life, since you will realize that whenever a major event happens in your life, may be you will find the situation as exemplified in the book. Books have always been there, are there and will always be there. But what you have got here is a ‘mission’ – a mission of ascent, a mission of excellence, a mission of improvement, at least 1% every year. But we are not bound by this book alone. Immediately to follow is part II of this book. In addition, there will be a companion to this book, which includes contents very essential for grade XI but could not accommodate due to the 650 pages limitation set by Curriculum Development Centre. We realize that in spite of our best endeavor, it is not perfect. Any sensible suggestions are soulfully welcome, will be incorporated, and properly credited. And pls remember, our minds are still to meet with your minds. Can’t imagine how great things we can achieve together!!
