Information Technology is the major part that leads the society towards modernization. IT has become an important integral part of the society and business houses. Today’s managers, professionals, academicians and the individuals need IT education to enhance their knowledge. Pokhara University has offered some practical and professional subjects like computer application, Programming and Management Information System for BBA, BBA-BI and MBA level. MIS is offered as a special subject on MBA and BBA. There is no standard book that covered whole syllabus of MIS curriculum. I have developed this book so that student will get complete course contents and teacher will get basic guideline how to instruct students. I have developed this book with reference to the framework of old questions asked by Pokhara University.
I have divided this book into seven chapters according to the syllabus provided by the Pokhara University.
Chapter one is related to the introduction to computer technology, types of Computer, memory (Primary Storage, Secondary Storage, Cache), CPU- Central Processing Unit, Hardware (Input Devices, Output Devices), Software and its Classification etc.
Chapter two is related to Data processing, Information System, Fundamental Resources of Information System, Potential Risks of Information System, Types of Information System (TPS, MIS, DSS, and ESS), Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Success and Failure of MIS etc.
Chapter three is related to networking the Enterprise, The Concept of a Network, Telecommunications Media, Network Topologies, Trends in Telecommunications etc.
Chapter four is related to Fundamental Data Concepts Types of Databases, Data warehouses and Data Mining, Decision Support in Business, Decision Structures, Decision Support Trends Decision Support Systems and Online Analytical Processing etc.
Chapter five is related to E-business systems, Customer Relationship Management, Enterprise Resource Planning, Supply Chain Management SCM, E-Commerce and its scope, Essential e-Commerce Processes, Electronic Payment Processes etc.
Chapter six is related to Introduction to Hospitality Information System, Characteristics of Hospitality Information System, Computer Reservation System (CRS), Global Distribution System (GDS), Property Management Systems (PMS) and Point of Sales Systems (POS) etc.
Chapter seven is related to computer based information system (case study). It includes some case studies from different fields and burning issues related to IT.
